The 'Cup Edition' Intake for 2.0T MQB EA888 Gen3 cars is a complete open cold air intake system, using a high flow and reusable lifetime triple-layer Trifoam® giant domed filter.

We have developed this open intake system for our Golf 7 Volkswagen Racing Cup car programme - so branded 'Cup Edition', and are now offering it for either race use or as a fast-road upgrade as an alternative to our popular R600 fully-enclosed intake, for those who prefer the induction noise and appearance of an open system.

Cold air is drawn through the standard front panel aperture into the filter chamber area. Intake air temperature is protected from the heat of the engine bay with a fully-formed CAD-designed aluminium heat shield which seals against the underside of the bonnet/hood and extends right underneath the filter chamber area.

KEY TECH SPECS

TRIFOAM™ FILTER
Trifoam® filter construction, triple-layer laminate of open-cell polyurethane foam, which gives an exceptionally high level of filtration – the very same technology as Formula One engines use.

SIMPLE FITTING
All parts have been developed exclusively for Golf 7/MQB - meaning that fitting is straightforward, and the original mounting points are retained.

EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY
Hand-built in the UK, using the highest quality materials and construction.

POWER GAINS
Efficient filtration and huge filter surface area means that power and torque gains support higher power remaps, and even an economy improvement.

LAST A LIFETIME
This is a 'lifetime' filter, so never needs replacement in normal service. Cleaning is only required every 20,000 miles (30,000km) in normal usage.

PERFORMANCE

-Through keeping intake temperatures as low as possibly, and greatly improving airflow into the engine, more power is produced, turbo lag is reduced and better fuel efficiency is achieved.

-Turbocharger spool can drop nearly 500 RPMs, reducing turbo lag and creating faster turbo response.

-Our development has shown that a high-flow intake system on the Golf 7 / MQB EA888 engines really only gives worthwhile gains once power outputs reach over 300bhp – so this intake is best combined with a remap.

-Our testing on the Cup Edition Intake has given gains of 16bhp on a Stage 1 car, or around 5% more effective peak power compared with the standard factory air box. Further testing on cars up to 360bhp and beyond shows further increased power improvements from the Intake system, as the standard air box and filter reaches and exceeds its airflow limit.

-As a race-bred intake system, the rich induction noise is clear as soon as you first accelerate hard. With the increased airflow from this system, the sound of the diverter valve opening when you lift between gears is much more noticeable. However volume levels are well-contained, and the sound quality is music to the ears of any enthusiastic driver!
